This module is designed for doctors who have never successfully completed the module and do not hold the relevant accreditations. Accreditation requires you to attend the session and complete the assessment tasks successfully.
Successful completion of the module will lead to the award of Spine and Spinal Impairment Guides Modification Document accreditations.
Stream 2 – If you have already successfully completed the Stream 1 module and you want to undertake continuing education, then you are encouraged to enrol in the Spine |Spinal Impairment Guides Modification Document (SIGMD) Stream 2 Module.
Stream 2 modules do not have any assessment requirements, and they will help you improve your proficiency by updating your skills in applying the AMA4 Guides and/or other prescribed assessment methods.
Module information
This module covers criteria for assessing spine using both the methodology from Chapter 3 of the Guides, and also some modification to those criteria, which applies in some cases, and is contained in an additional prescribed methodology called the Spinal Impairment Guides Modification Document.
The module covers:
- The key concepts that apply to assessment of Spinal Impairment.
- The way in which some terms are given specific meaning within the Guides is different that from clinical practice.
- A logical path for consideration of Spinal Impairment, whether using the Guides or with the use of the Spinal Impairment Guides Modification Document.
- Apportionment of Impairment: The approach required to disentangle what impairment may or may not be related to a compensable event.
